Homework: Wow! Journal booklets are finally in and they are looking great. I hope when I get a chance to read them it will be just as great as how they all look. I hope that you have your booklet handed in because I will not be accepting late booklets due to the amount of time you have had to work on these.

LANGUAGE ARTS 903
Homework: Your two projects are due on Thursday, February 15th. You will not have time to work on them much in class so you need to work on them at home. You have had quite a bit of computer time already to get what you need for these assignments. Don't procrastinate!! Come for help if you need it. FIELDTRIP FORMS WERE DUE TODAY!!!

Homework: I am pleased to say that many of you have used your computer time wisely and have nearly or already finished your essay on A Christmas Carol. Others, not so wisely and you will have quite a bit of extra work to do this weekend to get it finished for the due date of Monday, Feb 5th. Remember to do the following before handing it in:
1) Check to see if you have 5 paragraphs (- don't forget your thesis statement in the first paragraph)
2) Read it over (out loud) to yourself to look for errors
3) Have someone else also read it over fore you before you hand it in
4) Make sure you check through the "no excuse" sheet to see if you have checked everything (eg; capitals for names, places etc.; as well as underlining the title of the play, and NO contractions or numbers).
Note: Due to the amount of time you have had in school to complete this essay and the opportunities I have given to come at lunch and after school for help and computer time - I WILL NOT BE ACCEPTING ANY LATE ASSIGNMENTS.

Homework: Mayan Tour Essay should be handed in. Some of you were given a day's grace because you were absent so make sure you complete it and hand it in by Thursday. No later. The rest of you should think about your Christmas Carol Essay and make sure you have details written out and have your thesis statement and opening sentence worked out.

Timeline: You need ten events that happened in the year 1923 in Russia during the reign of Lenin - leading up to Lenin's death, January 24, 1924. At each of the main events you choose - write or type up information about how that event effected Alex and what was happening with him. (example: collectivism - food was being sent to the government and many people were starving and there was no food) - Connection to Alex - this is why he had to end up stealing because he needed to eat to survive
Map - You will need to look up various maps to find all these locations but you should have on your map of Russia the following places that Alex or Alex and the band went. [Kovrov, Vladimir-train station, Moscow, Caucasus Mountains-children's home, back to Moscow, Leningrad, village on the shores of Russia across from Bjorko, Finland-Gulf)

Homework: Your newspaper is due this Friday, February 2nd. You have had four classes of computer time so far and I believe we will be able to fit one more in before Friday. This means that you will need to work on this at home OR come after school or at lunch. Remember to give me time to do the photocopying on to the larger paper - so this needs to be calculated in to your time. You need on the paper: Two news articles, Two feature stories, Two columns, and then fillers (ads, etc.) to fill in empty spaces. Use your handout for information on how to write these and remember a good reporter always makes sure he or she has covered the 5 W's.
